locksmith courses

Postby cred » 21 Jul 2005 12:16

hi,
there has been for a while now lots of topics on locksmith training courses and the guys who are setting up in training telling wannabe locksmiths that you can do a 2 day course and set up your buisness and earn loads of money, most of us know thats not the case, so why is 101 letting training courses advertise on the site claiming just that, offering to train you and you will be on staggering amounts of money? just a thought!

Not sure what you're referring to. Are they in the Google ad at the top? Normally I don't see any ads because of Norton, but I turned it off and all I see is Google ads, Lockpickshop.com, and Steel Bolt Hacking. I think the Google ad is targeted to where you're at. For me it alternates between ads for internet pick shops and ads for locksmiths in major U.S. cities. Maybe those training course people are who pay Google for the space in the U.K.?

most states offer locksmith courses at trade schools or specalized off site training centers. Some if not most also have employment placement assistance as well, so if possible I'd go with a school that has that provision.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Here in Toronto they have a school called "The Academy Of Locksmithing" that takes you from the basics right up to advanced locksmithing. Master keying, Lockpicking, Installations, electronics, automobiles. Pretty well everything is covered. A serious person could complete all the courses in about a year. I wouldn't say that they could immediately open up their own business though. But...one would almost be guaranteed employment in the industry.

sadly many courses in the uk are rip offs , and run by people with less than 6 months experience following just a 2 day course themself.

why would any one wish to train with cowboy firms, and why do people not do their homework first, there are some good courses about but most are not sadly.

as to advanced courses, chris b now runs a fantastic impressioning day, where he will teach you to impression locks such as kaba and ingersol sc71, why would anyone want to pay someone without doing their homework first and without any real experience. oh well the mind boggles.

cant do anything about the google ads, hopefully people will see the cons for what they are and the good ones for what they are too.
