Turning your pick scans into templates

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Turning your pick scans into templates

Postby Brick Jones » 24 Jul 2005 14:04

I am quite happy to turn peoples scans of thier picks into illustrator templates, or PDF files. Mostly the fact taht they will be vector based will give you the ability to resize the files without loss of quality.

Here is the problem that I see on most templates now. The lack of a ruler next to them.

If you will just scan or take a digital photo with rulers on the side and bottom of your picks I will start converting them over. As a group you can decide if you want them all black, all white with black background or just a thicker black outline around them. The point is for me to get them converted over to vector files, then save them in exact sizes for your downloads. I will be happy to host them on my site since I have so much bandwidth.

Let me know if this is of any interest or use.

Before you even think about compiling this information :x . You need permission from those who have posted their information.

*Sigh* now I just gotta take a scan of all my picks. Ah well, I was going to take photos of them anyway.... But yeah, good idea. My .PDF converter trial has run out anyway.

Chrispy, Google for CutePDF (look for the free version on their web site). Totally free, no spyware, works as a printer driver.

I am sorry, but did I indicate that I was going to do this without the permission of those who had posted thier scans? I am unsure of your bold text and angry face..

Oh, I see, you are just bitter because you live in Queens. Nevermind. I understand that one. =] I was in NYC for 12 years myself before just moving here. But hey, look at it this way, at least you are not in the Bronx.

:D

i've got a decent zip file filled with pre-existing templates for the common brands of picks out there - e.g. peterson, falle-safe and so forth, if anyone wants it. (it'd be good for the newbies who ask about such things so often, at any rate)

many of the images are a little small to use as actual templates, but i'm sure someone with a little more time and ingenuity than i could probably convert them into a usable form.

You may want to reconsider that...it's 19 MB, 429 files or so...
