Unpickable Yale?

Well, I swung by B&Q today, and to my surprise they had sold out entirely of the 2 key version.

I shall be getting one soon, though. Not sure why eveyone's moaning about the keyway - there's loads more room than the ASSA euros...

Thats the point i was going to make i think on the X5 the keyway is easyer to play with than a normal yale one..
I find that on the X5 i can get my picks and pick gun in there with no problem at all...

In the end I suppose it comes down to those 4 security pins. Hand picking it, it seems to set pins again and again; even knowing that they are false set doesn't seem to help. On other locks (the previous Yale) the security pins being forced up would give good feedback by turning the cylinder back. It doesn't seem so positive on this lock.

I'll keep trying, I guess, but I may end up forking out on a pickgun, just to get this one!

I spent a few hours bumping this baby the other day. It's hard, but not impossible. Most locks I can bump in a few taps, but the X5 is much harder. I've come to the conclusion that, although not bump-proof (I've looked inside it with an expert, Han Fey of TOOOL) it is definitely a tough lock to bump.

I beat the carp out of it for ages, tuning the key and stuff, before I got it to work. I then popped it about ten times in the end of that first hour, then it just stopped working. I didn't get it again in the next hour.

I gave up, and made two other keys, both of which opened a regular Yale and an ISEO in three taps, first try...
