For the love of Pete, man, this is your third post on this! I'm sorry, but I don't see what's to be proud of here. Someone forgot expensive items that they use to make a living, and you kept them.

Why not call the locksmith after you'd found them and let him know he left his tools there? :?

Well i think thats a bit difficult when someone comes knocking at your door looking for work in an umarked car and doesn't give you a receipt, which makes it difficult to call him back.I suspect he is the crook, as in evading TAX ie no receipt.Se we kept them and he did not come back.
In any case now i know what i want to do,so some good came of it.
And whats the problem in bragging that you have the real thing, every one on here is bragging that they think that they are locksmiths and no one is(go figure)

I'm afraid you're mistaken. There are members on this site that have been locksmiths longer than you have been alive. No one cares about tools; most locks can be picked with homemade picks made out of a fifty cent hacksaw blade or piece of street sweeper bristle found in the street. This isn't a bragging contest, its a place for people to share their hobby/profession. Come back when you're mature enough to appreciate it.

Actually if someone leaves a bunch of stuff on the job site and never bothers to come back and retrieve it, well I don't have a lot of sympathy for them. That being said, I think you kinda torqued people off with your multiple posts & attitude and so they are getting crabby on the subject.

Also, as zekeo pointed out, there are a LOT of locksmiths (yes, full-time working locksmiths) here. That is what makes this site great, both hobbyist and pros living in harmony (starts humming Kum-By-Ya ;-)). Seriously, though, you have a big advantage over most beginning pickers (having good tools), so my recommendation would be to settle down, read all of the good information on this site and keep on practicing. Locksmithing is an ancient & honorable profession and more than one LP101er is making the same transition. Good luck and best wishes.

The guy rocked up to your house, out of the blue, with a pick gun and lockpicks, and asked if there was any work? You then let him.... do whatever he did, and he left without giving you a receipt and without his tools? And you think he was a crook... but let him do his thing anyway....? Uhhhhh mmmmkay....... :?

Why would he be knocking at the door if you were locked out? Surely, you'd be outside, or at a neighbour's trying to call someone...

And don't say you had his number:

Well according to stickypicky yes, you just look for the people stood on their doorstep waiting for a passing locksmith.

I deliver leaflets which i suppose is the same and i get a lot of work from them, if you do a job, drop leaflets off at all the neibours, even if you have already done it in the past.

Stickypicky, real lockies also use electric guns, try and find one of them thats fallen off the back of a lorry  sorry i meant left at your house buy the CIA, (thats a point, its not a goverment issue gun is it?)

If he came with a pick gun and picks it was for a lockout which means someone called him,

A real lockie would have reported his stolen  sorry, lost property at the police station as if it was me i wouldnt want to be blamed for any resulting burgularys, why dont you ask your local force if they were reported? you may even get a reward, you may even get to keep them,

Either way, locksmithing is an honourable business so if you want to be a lockie i know youll be doning the right thing and trying all avenues to try and return the equipment
