When i was an apprentice the first and last time i pulled some stainless swarlf off a lathe it wrapped around my finger and without realiseing i pulled the stuck swarlf as hard as i could and yes youve guessed it, the end of the finger came off leaving the bone showing, it had just basically cleaned the bone of any skin.

Ouch. No really.... ouch...

Yep, luckily though they managed to sew it back on and i just have scarring. It fully works as well.

It's good to hear there was no long term damage. An old enemy of mine got 8 of his fingers lopped off by a carpet cutting machine. While he was in hospital getting them reattached, I was going to send him a get-well present...... a cheapo childrens flute, called a recorder. Those who know what I'm talking about will realise the delicious and hard-hitting irony that would have represented.

Shrub, you should have taken a bunch of painkillers and carved the bone into a hook and picked a lock with it. If you pick it fast enough, the blood will lubricate before it coagulates

You'd be the only person with a lockpick ALWAYS with you, no matter what.

Unfortunatley though it was my engineering apprenticship and i wasnt picking locks then,

Like the idea though, like a terminater thing, we could start bolting hardware on ourselves for lockpicking

Somthing like that guy off that film (you can tell i took notice ) when he got mad blades came out his hands, we could have picks coming out instead,

Cutting the thumbnail, piece of paper, staring down the blade to look for pock marks, all of which are tests for sharpness; none seem to take off my arm hair as well
