The US Patent Office has a huge collection of info on locksmithing. As an example I will talk about Learning about Pickguns and SnapPicks .

The following are photos of lock opening tools. You will notice that there are also engineering drawings as well.

The photos are from the LSS+ CD, The drawings are taken from US Patents...

So far I have collected over 100 patents that I have studied .... You will find both drawings and descriptive text, if you like this sort of thing, in the letters patent.

If you really want to learn about it check the patents out on the United State Patent Office search site ....its free.
