Raimundos small Bogota beauties review

Quick review of my recently received Bogotas from Raimundo.

Finish has to be seen to be believed.

His use of the file is outstanding. If you like making picks you can learn a lot from studying how he uses a file. There are no filing mistakes, everywhere it should be smooth, is smooth. The finish is like good handcrafted jewellery or perhaps a surgeon's instruments.

It's hard to describe, suffice to say the picks I make are flat with the edges rounded, Rays are beautifully curved on the sides of the pick. Nice one Ray!

Rays service is outstanding. i.e. "Received today, despatched today."
Took about 4 days to come from America to U.K. and, more than I ordered. Thanks again Ray.

There are two sets of picks, points down for the European style locks and points up for the American style locks.

Do they open locks..........You Betcha!

Probably working tirelessly on his next batch of superb instruments. I have them...and wouldn't be without. They have to be used to be believed... :shock:

I just received a set of his picks last week and I think they are a work of art. I PM'd him to tell him that I don't think I can bring myself to even use them. Beautiful. Excellent craftmanship !!

I too ordered and recieved his picks. Man was that fast! I really love the set. I have a 50.00 set from Southford, and now they stay at home. I carry this set now. I love em and highly recomend them to and hobbiest. Thanks for a great product shipped really fast.

Well, I guess they ARE designed to be used. It's just that I can't bring myself to actually USE them. I feel I might damage them or something as they look so cool. But if they work really well I will just have to start using them.

Tim,
you are either an art collector, or a lock picker.

Use your picks, you can always polish them after with some jewellers rouge :lol:

Well, I guess you consider them art also. :lol:

I would just hate to damage these really nice picks. But since I have two other "standard" pick sets, I don't know if I can bring myself to place these picks in harms way.

These picks are functional art.... you will have a very hard time damaging them if you use them as lockpicks, even with fairly agressive picking.

Actually, I've bent mine a little :oops:

twisted a bit off-true and tilted down. I'll see if I can rebend them now. I've been doing pick maintenance today; I tried the toothpaste polishing trick (mentioned recently in another thread) and it seems to work, which is pretty cool.
