If a locksmith cant unlock...

This is just out of pure curiosity, I randomly thought about it and wonderd.

What does a locksmith do if he/she cannot open the intended lock? What do you say to the customer? That has to be embarasing.

The drill. Or other destructive methods. Assuming there's no other way to bypass.

If everything fails, you could try calling a colleague and pleading for a helping hand, or just folding and explaining with an apology that you're stumped. No charge.

I've wondered about this myself. I just can't see how this would ever happen, between picking, bypassing, drilling, cutting, and welding I don't think it could, but I'd sure like to hear some stories about it if it has!! :P

Welding... heh... well, yes, if you go that far, nothing can stop you...

They'd acutually be making it harder for themselves if they were welding the door.

Thermite/acetylene is what I had in mind when I said 'welding'--if drilling out the core isn't possible because of hardening or ball bearings then I suppose neither one of those would help if you just burned through the plug

Thermic lance, that's what I was thinking of...Or maybe a plasma cutter?
