looking for an online locksmithing course

Postby sublime progie » 21 Aug 2005 21:52

Hey everyone. I am currently in the market for an online locksmithing course. I was just curious what some of the people who have already taken some online course think about them. Would you suggest them for a person who doesn't have the funds or the accesibility to go to an actual trade school? Do you actually get the opportunity to learn the material hands on, or did you get stuck in the dark? If the later, did you have a means of getting help?

Has anyone tried this course? http://www.pcdi.com/courses/lk/outline.html
If you have, what do you think about it? If you haven't, does it look like a hoax from the sight or does it look legit. They sent me some stuff in the mail, and it looks good to me, but I wanted outside opinion, since my current enthusiasm about taking a course may give me some scarlet colored shades.

I have just bought a course from Thomson Education Direct.
http://www.thomsoneducationdirect.com.au/index.cfm?id=197

It doesn't come with the key cutting machine like some of the others.
I can pay it off at $50/month straight from my bank card.
(didn't need credit card)

It seems to cover everything that LP101 does, I get a piece
of paper at the end saying that I am still not a locksmith, but it
is hopefully a foot in the door.

I got it because I like to study.

I believe it is the same one that Chrispy is doing.
I'm still waiting for the stuff in the mail, but. (ordered the other day).

I think i bought it twice, so we'll see what happens, hahaha. :P

They have supportlines etc as well.

It's the same one helix. I just finished paying it off. My last $7.00 was deducted from my account last Friday. If you need any help (which you shouldn't, it's pretty self-explanatory) just give me a PM. The first module with the tools tripped me up a bit, but that's because I wasn't familiar with them and some weren't in the text book. You'll have to go online to get some answers as well. Good luck. :)
