How Do I Make Picks Out Of Household Items?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Btw.: Filling out your profiles might come in useful, e.g. if you have lock specific questions, as locks differ from place to place. It's also considered good habbit in this forum.

Of course the search button isn't restricted to the advanced users so you could give it a try every now and then(especially before you post). This might keep you from beeing flamed and will actually gain you some respect.

The "preview" button which apears left of the "submit" button provides you with the ability to check your grammar, spelling, and the links. Good grammar and spelling are aprecciated here too.

The link below can provide futher information on how to ask smart questions. It's a bit coding/opensource centric but I'm sure you will get the idea.
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Ofcourse you should read, read, read as others have pointed out previously. Almost any questions regarding lockpicking which will come to your mind has been answered here before (most have been answered hundreds of times as there are more ignorants out there than one would think)

Read the MIT Guide to lockpicking:
google is your friend

Go to HowStuffWorks and check out this one:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/lock-picking.htm

Search for pyros videos on pickmaking.

The FAQ section is named after ist contents:
Frequently Asked Questions
it could also be called FNA:
Frequently Needed Answers
it can be found at:
viewforum.php?f=2

Another thread is dedicated to:
"Lockpicks - Manual
When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style."

Guess where would be a good place to start looking?
Try this:
http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewforum.php?f=4

All the threads which are marked sticky and start with "FAQ" in the topic are, I'm sure you get it, FAQs.

Should any questions remain unanswered, please feel free to go ahead and ask them, but make sure:
*you have searched before you posted. Please point out what words you have searched for. This shows you did your homework, keeps others from doing the same search again, ...

*you provide any useful information available; e.g. if you have a question regarding a special lock you should describe what type of lock it is, it's name, any further information (e.g there is really old and dirty),...
If you don't know the information mentioned above, a photo might be a good idea.

*you preview your posting (see above)

Ps.: never ever pick locks which:
are actually in use, don't belong to you

PPs: please forgive me the double post but I can't be bothered to write anothe site of a "Howto use a forum"

I hope that helped.

Have fun and enjoy lockpicking

That's one h ell of a newbie reply. You've gotta save that to a .txt file and copy/paste whenever we get a noob question (how do I make, where do I get, what is this for....etc) Extensive, polite, links included, rules outlined, proper procedures explained and with correct spelling and grammar. Very impressed Sublime.

10 points. :P

Good pick making materials include:
-Butter Knives (filed and sanded)
-Small paper clips
-Playing Cards (two glued together)
-Nail Files
-Balsa Wood/Popsicle Sticks

Although I still suggest you search and find other suggestions.

As much as i would like to claim to have a good "new lockpickers post reply" That was not me Chrispy. That was WTF pickproof Ü The sigs do sort of reasemble each other though. All the same, I do believe that he did answer your question stalker.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style."

There is a post somewhere for mcgyver style picks in the forum. I dont really feel like finding it because i already know. I am hear to help as well as learn though so I will help out.

You can make a tension wrench from a bobby pin. It is spring steal. Since you don't want to saw or dremel you can get a large safety pin, like a diaper pin, and bend it at the tip to make a hook pick. I would grind the point of on some cement or something though cause it will stick in the picks. You can also do the same with paper clips, they arent really strong enough, but i have gotten a filing cabinet open with a safety pin set. The tension wrench. Other than that be creative. Look around. Enjoy life, and be patient. :D

As for your "search" Stalker, I just typed in "household" into the Search function and got 56 matches, of which at least 10-15 were high quality threads....... :?

Sorry for the DP.

Because:
* you are sooo lazy.
* because I wanted to avoid all the others stupid questions you will ask
(This means questions which have been asked hundreds of times by lazy noobs like you are)
* I thought you wanted to learn lockpicking. So I gave a pointer to the information you requested,...

...,and the other questions everyone of the regular users expected to come.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

If you had at least read this:
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
You would have avioded the stupid second question, but as you don't seem to read my posts at all, I won't provide you any further pointers.

Does this answer your stupid, lazy, redundant noob questions?

Ps.: You made me curious: What did you seach for? I mean everyone else is able to find good posts which answer your question by using words you used in your post.
Maybe you should ask Santa Claus to put this under your christmas tree:

I am going to help you out here. http://nickz.homeunix.com has all of the info you need. Pyro's famous making picks video is hosted there along with pick templates and pictures of picks along side scales.

Now I have put the spoon in your mouth, all you have to do is pull it out and chew. That means you still need to search to find the username and password to log into the site!! Hopefully this will put an end to this tragic excuse for a topic  .
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

The questions you are asking have been asked(and answered) at least dozens of times. If you were to search for those answers then you would find a literal ton of information on your specific question.

Most of the veterans on this forum only start a new thread to give new information or ask a question that has not already been completely covered.

I have very few posts and or threads because every question I have come up with was very easily answered using the search function of this board.

Everyone in this forum is extremely helpful, but like every human they do not want to spend thier time reanswering the same questions over and over.
