G'day everybody,

Im new to the site and have been picking locks as a hobby for a while now, but am yet to get a lock picking kit where I live. I would order one from online but for that I need a credit card. I dont own a credit card because i just don't want to get into debt, I also do not have any friends or family willing to use theirs for me. I live in Sydney, Australia and am basically wondering if there is anywhere that I am able to buy a kit (preferably the same or similar to this one http://lockpickingbook.com/Picks/KeyChainPro.htm I think that it may be called a "Jack knife") from a shop or person nearby without having to have any sort of lock-smith requirements (as I am not a lock smith).
Any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

If you're not able to make your own, try to see whether the site will take other payments other than credit. You could always get some US cash and wrap it up in paper to disguise the fact that it's cash and send it. The only problem is that there is no proof of payment and they can deny the fact that it ever arrived

There are a few Aus members (myself, Skold, WhiteHat, Luke, etc.) that could make you a set and you could send an Aus money order or you could deposit the money in their account.

On the other hand you could make a "jack knife" set from a swiss army knife (there is a thread if you search), but to make it similar to the one you are referring to is a bit of work. Hope this helps.

It seems to me that lockpickshop.com offers payment by money order. I could be wrong, but you could give them a holler and see. They're always quick to answer questions.

Are there any laws that prohibit the sale of lockpicks to a curious individual in Australia? (I'm also in Sydney) Are customs going to check the package and follow up with you why you are buying such an item?

Technically, no. However, locksmith suppliers will not sell to people other than locksmiths. If you try to order some in from overseas, you have a good chance of getting them in, but you always have the niggling chance that customs will stop them and inquire as to why you want them if you're not a locksmith. If they are not satisfied with your reason, they'll keep them. :cry:

I was lucky enough to have a very nice contact (whom shall remain hatless :wink:

) that provides me with various sets without having to order them from overseas and without using a credit card.

Dont you just love people like that? Everyone needs a locksmith to buy tools from lock n key or LSC for you!! so get out there and find yourselves a pet locksmith!
