need a deadbolt that cannot be opened

Postby victim » 28 Aug 2005 12:43

I am having a major problem. /someone is opening my deadbolt by inserting a fine surgical wire b etween the dead bolt and the lock, goiing into the lock and poening it. By the wire inside the lock itself they are opening the deadbolt... no key.
what kind of lock can I get to stop this practice.

try searching for "unpickable lock" or something like that and you should come up with a few posts just like yours.

Go to www.don-jo.com

They have a product guide full of items useful for protecting doors and locks. What you will want to look at are the "rings" to fit behind the deadbolt, these should foil that particular attack.

So someone is just opening your deadbolt and then leaving? Or have you been broken into? How do you know how they're doing it? Has the wire been left behind? Anyway....

What Varj mentioned is a good idea. You can also get protective plates of metal to cover the space between the frame and the door. You see them a lot on fire exits so that people can't work the bolt from outside. At least, I think that's what you mean with the description of your problem, the language barrier clouds it a bit. :)

adams rite

Postby raimundo » 28 Aug 2005 19:11

See if you can get an adams rite with the long swinging bolt morticed in and put an abloy protect into it, or does zeke now have wires that can flip that bolt?

 I am not at all familiar with abloy. I have played with them on a few occasions but never really examined them. If you have adams rite hardware then I suggest going with a cylinder that has a closed tailpiece, ie no opening at the back. We really need more information before we can give an informative suggestion.

n2oah,

do the abloy locks on that a-r hardware have a keyway that is open all the way through the lock? Is the tailpiece on the lock open also?

Ive made a couple of wires for adamsrites some with success some without,
what is the slim jim for you get with the kit?
do you push the wire in with it bent back (the 'L' made to a 'U') or do you open the bend out and push the tool in as a length?

shrub,

I do not want to discuss bypass methods in too much detail on the open forums. There is a topic in the advanced forums if you have access along with a demo video I made of the peterson A-R trip wires, you may want to check that out. If you still have questions post them in that thread and I'll be happy to help you out  .
