Hello 'pickers.
My name is Rick and I luv the challenge of trying to open
all the old locks I find. Have a ring of about 250 different
makes and styles of keys. Successful about 60%-70% of
the time. BUT there are a couple that I am still itching to
crack.
Got here because I found an old Sargent & Greenleaf Mo. 8088
in a box of stuff in my closet. I remember using them in the USMC
and later when I worked for the USGS. Found a note pad with
some combos and tried them. No luck.
Came to the grim realization that I had forgotten how the use
the darn thing!
So, a googling I went for instructions for that old lock and here
I am.
Let me try those numbers again and see what happens this time.....

Chrispy wrote:Welcome sl_aus. Happy picking! P.S. Now that you've joined LP101, ASIO knows exactly where you live, what you have on your computer and what locks you intend to pick. Beware....
Cheers Chrispy,
Not too worried regarding ASIO as I'm not into anything naughty!
I'm a motor dealer in Sydney and find heaps of old locks in trade-in vehicles. I'd rather attempt to open them rather than turf 'em in the bin.
Having an absolute ball winning lunches via bets on padlocks the boys bring me!
Maybe one day I'll be able to get into the cars we lock the keys into without packing tape or wire.... the big bets will be on then!!!!

Hi all.
I just signed up here so I just want to say hi to you all.
I've always been interested in Locksmithing, even as a kid, so I figured it was about time to do something about it and so I just enrolled in the FB course. Really looking forward to the course.
I'm looking forward to reading all of your posts, and hopefully I might be able to contribute something worthwhile to the board once in a while.

I've not responded to this thread for a while, so I wish a warm welcome to those who are willing to help themselves, and a thermal blanket to those who choose to post the usual questions without searching.
Your choice:
Warm reception....
or burning bush!
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

You should use a smiley to show that you are kidding. You can choose from either:

This will help in avoiding misunderstandings.
And no, we don't read them. Half the time we don't even say welcome.
Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....

Geez guys! Speed-reading involves actually reading the post, not skimming.
He DID use a smiley...and he went one better. jk, if I'm not mistaken, means just kidding.

But Mick, he did not use a smiley in that particular paragraph. Yes he used one in the next paragraph, and, indeed, a jk, but that was in relation to two different topics, none of which was what I was referring to. Geez Mick....

I think kwikpick and quickpicks are headed for a major legal battle, copyright infringement and all. If you going to be appropriating his name then make sure you're at least as good, not like those crappy "ghost-busters" that tried to supplant the Real Ghostbusters when I was a kid....

Hi! I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm trying to open my father's safe. I have the 3 number combo, but apparently not the right sequence. It's an older Sears safe with a Yale combo lock that says G4 on it. Any ideas for me? TamS
