TenShun rench

Postby TootieBell » 2 Sep 2005 17:10

I just got me professional lock set pick in the mail and I got a question about that tenshun rench thingy. Does the flat end go in the top or bottom of the lock? Also, another question: When I put the pick thingy in the key hole, do I turn it clock or counter wise? It seems too loose? Which one do I use? None of them look like a key? Last question: How far back in the keyhole do I drive the tenshun thingy in? I tapped it about half way with a small hammer, then put the crooked pick in and turned it clock - the lock did not open? Any suggestions?

Thank you for your help? I'm trying to open my bosses office adn I think I ruianed the key hole? I had to use vise crips to work the tenshun thingy out of the hole? Any suggestions?

The correct spelling is 'Tension wrench'. To answer your question though, the tension tool can be placed in either the top or bottom of the keyway. Its down to personnal preferance. Once you've started to pick the lock, try applying tension in both directions, some locks however will only open in one direction.

I think your getting confused with what are 'picks' and what are tension wrenches. Have a search around this site, you will find pick ids. That would then help you.

Once you've found the correct pick to use (I would suggest raking the lock firstly, if that fails then individualy pick the pins) start from the back of the lock, raking backwards (pulling the pick almost out of the lock).

Try reading some guides on this forum, they will help you understand the methods used in opening locks.

For beginners, you should read the MIT guide to lockpicking to learn how to lock pick(google it). Also ther is alot of information on this site that can be helpful, just try to look around for it.

I think you are completely missing the fundamental theories behind lockpicking. :? I suggest you read some guides that have pictures to explain what they are talking about while you are reading. It helps with visualization. Good luck.

 *blank expression of amazement*

A) both ends of the TENSION WRENCH are flat, its the l shaped piece, it might have a twist in it. the shorter end goes in the keyway, top or bottom doesn't matter I prefer the top.

B)Turn the way the lock opens.

C,d,E,F,G,H....Z) the lockpick IS NOT a magic wand inserting it into the lock and turning is as good as shouting "In the name of the l337 Hollywood hack lockpicking God, I command you Open!!11111." On that note lockpicking in movies is as accurate as those misguided rockets wylie Cayote is fond of using.

B&E = Strongbad, if you persist in doing this please send me the pictures along with your name, your address and phone number of local police station.

In short you missed everying about the basic idea of lockpicking, given the activities you seem interested in, I don't want to help anymore than I have. If you wish to learn to pick as a hobby please stay start be reading the FAQs then searching for any remaining questions there are many great links here and even more great info repeated time and again here. You will find everything you need here, search= good asking basic questions answered in FAQs and hundreds of times before= Thomas Hewitt and chainsaw will be coming for you muhahaha. I saw that last night for the first time, not good but not bad anywayts back to what I was saying.

Golden Rule1: DON'T pick locks that don't belong to you or you have permission to open.

Golden Rule2: Karma nasty things happen to people who do nasty things. commit crimes and I'll think off you as you get introduced to that balding overweight 40year old male who likes to be called daddy. No I won't be sending any soap on the rope either.

Its 1.30am I can't remember half of whatr I wrote hope it makes some kind of sense and is useful. now I'm off to catch some shut eye before I mash the keyboard with my face, nihght folks you been an awful audience.

Tootie:

A) As said before, don't pick locks you don't own. Since you've given no reason for me to believe that you have permission to pick the lock you are trying to pick, I will continue to assume that what you are doing is immoral, unethical, and illegal.

B) Please read the FAQ's and the site rules.

C) Any future posts which indicate questionable activity will not be locked. They will be deleted without warning.

Thanks, and good day.
