That's NOTHING! My brothe can make pick cases out of duct tape, I had him make me one when we were kids after he made a duct tape wallet for my cousin. (He wanted it to impress the ladies.... )

Well, if you get polykein ducttape, you don't get the ooze, but it's expensive (2-3 times the price of normal ducttape)

The crappy leather case that came with my first set, Southord, wasn't that great, so I made my own out of newspaper, staples, and packaging tape.
(third pick from the right is a modified long hook, only Southord pick I'd consider using now)
That case was retired a long time ago, it's fallen apart quite a bit.
It's got nothing on my new arrivals. Peterson Masters Tri-fold case, old HPC hook and half diamond, new HPC 2000 Sure Grip rubber handled hook and deforest, and a TR-4 wrench thrown in, along with a Peterson U-bend-it set with a free set of refills. I've got 40 strips of good material lying around now. I'm pretty sure they're the same material as the standard Peterson picks, so they'll make some very nice picks.

They're neat until you have a whole drawer full of them .
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

They're very neat indeed. Now that I have my long awaited trifold, though, it's time to start finding other uses for them. Now that I've got my Petersons, HPCs, slimmed down Majestics, a U-bend-it tool and a few blanks in my case, all I need are some LABs, stainless slimline Petersons, and maybe some Falles, and I'll be happy enough with my pick collection.
The one thing I have against Peterson is that anything metal you buy from them is covered in a thick layer of grease. I thought having to wipe it off my Peterson picks was bad, until I had to clean up the U-bend-it tool and the 40 strips of metal it came with... My hands are covered in grease right now. The grease also rubs off onto the nifty little Peterson containers, and I end up taking an old toothbrush, some water and dishwashing detergent, and scrubbing for a few minutes to clean them out. The labels that they stick on the tubes are also somewhat annoying; I spend like 5 minutes on each tube with a cotton ball and some rubbing alcohol rubbing that sticky crap off.
All in all, though, well worth the investment.
