best lock w/ removable core

Postby UnSaniTiZ » 15 Sep 2005 2:50

Hey guys. I've recently tried to pick a best lock padlock. I ended up picking the back pins and pulling out the removable core. I'm not so much concerned with putting the lock back in as with opening the lock, but as of now I have been unable to do so even without the core. How should I go about doing this? Inside are two miniature metal poles sticking out (that used to turn with the rotation of the key). Of course, turning them (which I can do to a small extent) has not opened the lock. I can see one end of the metal U part that springs out, but poking at it with a variety of things has yielded unsuccessful results.

Any ideas?

PS, I'd guess it at about 10 years old, thanks.

Not sure what to tell you. Twisting those two poles should open it.

maybe I just suck at twisting them; they twist either way (i can see which way the lock is supposed to turn, of course), but they get stuck after a little while in either direction. i've tried forcing them, but it doesn't seem to work. I'll play around with them a little more later

I would recommend being careful; I know at least one person here (Chucklz?) managed to very slightly bend one of the poles, basically wrecking the lock.

Yes I did bend one of the poles when I attempted to use a screwdriver. But I got it sorted with a pair of needle nose pliers and some gentle encouragement.
