Do you like the half diamond of the bogota set?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Do you like the half diamond of the bogota set?

Postby wtf|pickproof? » 18 Sep 2005 17:16

I know, I did post this question in another thread, but since there was little response, I decided to start a thread. I hope to get some more feedback and maybe some suggestions on what other pick should compliment the bogota rake.

OK, first I'll point out why I dislike the half diamond in the set:
While I carry my set all the time, I have not been able to open any lock with it yet. And believe me, I've tried often! I can't use it for single pin picking, as the handle flexes if I wan't to push on a singe pin and I get little to no feedback. I can't dose the force well either. I have had no success with raking either.

There are some points I want to make clear:

*This is no set made by raimundo. I am talking about the ones I made some while ago: [img]http://catbull.com/cpunx/lockpicking/my_bogota_picks2.jpg
So there might be differences between the sweeperbristles I use and those raimundo utilizes.

*I am able to pick nearly all of those locks by single pin picking with a hook, a deephook and a half diamond.

*Of course I don't intend to offense someone

So what are your results using the half diamond?(Please try to describe the techniqe you applied)
What other shapes would you think/know would work well on ergohandles?

I had good success with king/queen picks. I also thought about a hook or a deephook, but did not yet find time to experiment with those.

Is it possible to make a set of three picks, while still keep them packed nicely? (Have not tried that yet)

What other shapes did you try?

Raimundo's half diamond works well. It has about the same success rate as the bogotas when used properly.
