When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Hi all,
I'm a newbie who's kinda proud of my first attempt at making picks so I thought I'd put up a pic.
Any criticism/suggestions will be gladly taken.
All material is wiper blade inserts, tools used were dremel, files, pliers and sandpaper.
My favourite pick is 5th from the left, my attempt at Raimundo's Bogata isn't the best - will have another crack at that soon....

What is the third pick to the last? I'm assuming a tension wrench, does it fit well in your hand?
Nice picks! They look great.

Well done. Keep at it. Now you need a case for those puppies.

What is the first from the right made out of ?
Nice picks BTW, but where are the handle for them ? They must not go well in your hand.

That's great, all I'd do is add a few tools with a deeper curve. Other than that, excellent.

Yea, tension wrench, it looks a little odd but it's very snug on my index finger...

They're all wiper blade inserts, so far I've found two different variances in the width and thickness with the inserts.
Regarding handles, when I'm happy with the picks I'll get around to it - I'm leaning towards that shrink rubber stuff...

I've used liquid latex for my pick handles.
It works well and feels nice.

Hi,
congratulations to this nice set of picks! I'd suggets to make the next picks longer. I know, when you start pickmaking, it is tempting to save material so you can make as many picks as possible. But in my experience longer picks are more comfortable when picking. I made several sets from 6 cm to 20 cm and I really prefer the longer ones. (ergo handle picks are different thou).

Thanks for the feedback everyone, looking forward to having a crack at another batch sometime soon.
I pretty much have an endless supply of wiper blade inserts however I'll have a go with hacksaw blades.
I'd like some with deeper curves as suggested by SFGOON, I didn't have any luck with the wiper inserts as they tended to buckle slightly with my attempts. The wide "canvas" of a hacksaw blade will make that easier for me to overcome.
Longer picks are a must as some of these do tend to dig into the palm of my hand or tire my fingers out - wtfpickproof hit the nail on the head, I was kinda seeing how many I could make out of a strip of material!
Liquid latex sounds tempting for handles, will search for info about it's actual applications before I enquire at the local hardware shop - just to avoid any weird looks....
Anyway thanks again for the feedback.
I've got one more padlock to open and I may put up some pics of my victims thus far.

You can try this. There's a thread about this type of stuff around somewhere.
