ordering picks as a college student

Postby Spender » 19 Sep 2005 14:40

Is it safe to order a lock pick set from lockpickshop.com and have it sent to a college dorm in NY (considering it has to go across state lines)? I'd really like to try using picks (hair pins and paper clips is really hard... and 99.9% of the time, I can't get it  )

Where do you live?

If you want to buy picks locally, I have found that some self defense product stores sell picks. At least in my area.

Ordering picks over the net should not create a problem.

Order picks over the net is fine. Lockpicks.com thinks I'm 25 years old and a professional locksmith.

Also, I'm not entirely sure about this, but does the slimline Euro/Japanese 15 pc set work equally well as the 14 pc American one, on North American locks? I was thinking that if it did, it would be more versatile to get the Euro set (considering they are the same price and I would be able to use them on Euro/Japanese locks).[/i]

The slimlines will work just as well, if not better than the "American" set.

Don't mean to bring up a dead thread, but do you suggest using a fake name and address for the LPS account - since paypal orders are shipped to your paypal adress anyways? Or is there a risk of having your order sent to the wrong place :? ?

Don't bother with a fake name or anything like that. There won't be g-men at your door once the picks have been delivered, I promise.

Most places don't have problems with shipping to colleges. Just include your box number or whatever, and off you go.

The following statute applies if the customer wishes order to be shipped via US Postal Service; otherwise please disregard.
U.S.C. Title 39 Section 3002a of the US Postal Code specifies that locksmith tools can be shipped via mail only if the buyer can certify that he/she/it can be truthfully regarded as one of the following: A bona fide locksmith, a bona fide auto repossessor, a licensed car dealer, a lock manufacturer, a motor vehicle manufacturer.* By placing your order on our website, and by indicating your agreement of these terms before ordering, you are electronically signing this agreement and certifying to us under penalty of perjury that at least one of the above classifications pertains to you. In the absence of this assurance, LockPickShop (LPS) will not ship to you.

does that mean its not safe to use USPS and there fore we should use UPS (and pay like 3 times the shipping rates :? )?
