How about you change that sig line.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

if you have an original key, clamp a blank perfectly square with your cut key in a vice, then file the blank down to size... if you don't have a blank then you can use that metal brick strap which is easily availible... I think hacksaw blades might work.... this all depends upon whether you have an original key.
Be very careful when you are filing down the key as not to damage it. This has worked for me, but maybe someone here knows a better way which can be done faster...

I hope that was helpfull

Just to salvage this thread, illusion, have you actually tried copying a bitting onto a "non-blank" such as brickstrap? Does that work? I figure it would basically work like a perfect jiggler -- put it in and just lift it perfectly straight until it opens.

hmm... the brickstrip is usualy bigger than the keyblank, so you file it to the same size as the blank to make a perfect replica.

Yes it does work! I have done it personaly... In fact my Squire shed padlock, and a cylinder on my pickboard are both operated this way (lost the keys )... i copy every key i have onto brickstrap so I always have a spare... it's free, you can get lots of it, and is fast :D

the only issue is complicated wards on locks... but i have found that with a bit of patience the brickstrap can be bent into the right shape for the lock...

a bit of duct-tape on the handle with a hole in it makes for better carrying, or you could just drill a hole into the metal and just sand it...

I've been waiting for someone to ask that... thanks

O yeah... and it works just like a normal key : put it in, turn it :D
place a piece next to the cut key, and copy as closely as you can... it took me 4 minutes to do two of mine, but this was the first time, and I wasn't sure.. now it's much faster...

I know eh?
Ok, if you want to copy the key, what they did in the CSI episode is accurate. Just punch the key into a block of cheese you find in the garbage. The garbage decomposition process makes the cheese a perfect medium for imprintation, and with this you can make a key cut easily from bending a paper clip into the shape.
