Hello, My roomate and I just started a Lock Picking Club at The University of Texas at Dallas and were wondering if anyone had any ideas on any lessons and skills we could tech our members besides basic lockpicking?
thx

There's tons of cool activities you can have at a locksport meeting. You can have speed tests and competitions, have a gauntlet-type activity where you set up a series of locks that people must pick in sequence to finish. I like to use a chain of padlocks. It's also nice to have some sort of a learning section to the meeting, where one member teaches a new technique or skill, or gives some sort of a demonstration on some kind of different lock.

If you're interested, check out Locksport International at http://www.locksport.com.

Cheers!

SpaceCow- Is your club recognized in any way by your school? If so, what were the reactions from the school officials whom you dealt with?

Yes the club is recognized and partially funded by my school. There have been some complaints, we get calls every week with people complaining. However, the president of our school has heard of the situation and has not disapproved of the club. We are about fifty members strong and hopefully will expand even more.

people that are concerned that people will use lockpicking to commit crimes mostly. But our statement is that lockpicking is like martial arts, you can use your knolwedge of martial arts to kill people but you dont, the same applies to lock picking.

Nice website. You should add www.lockpicking101.com to your links.

Also Grudge on this forum is in Dallas I believe. He gave a talk on backdialing and "spiking" at this year's DEFCON. If you are looking for a guest speaker (as your website says you have guest speakers) he would be good to invite.

haha, yeah, the article is mainly about our president, and the reporter who did the story actually joined our club after seeing what it was all about.
