How many picks does one need?

Postby ksm1989 » 18 Oct 2005 21:30

I am shopping for a pick set, but i dont know how many to get. I am a beginner, so i do not need that many (mabie five, i think thats the lowest) and was just wondering how many picks does one need to pick a kwikset lock? Thanks.

You need two tools to pick a quickset lock. If you search around you'll see why, what these two tools are, and where you can find them or make them. Searching is your friend.

1 S rake, 1 diamond or curve tip, and a trencher wrench

Only the one that opens the lock. The rest pretty much just stay in the case. ;)

Beginners can make do with four picks. A half-diamond, hook, snowman (or half-snowman) and snake rake. Plus one tension wrench makes a five piece set. Try the SouthOrd C500 set. Relatively cheap five piece slimline set that has all you need. :)

What? You mean "Chrispy"? For those that know my real name it's kinda obvious, but for those that don't, here's a clue. It's 54.5% of my name spelt phonetically.
