Once it's off just put the key in and pull the plug out.

Well, it seems to be a very strong ring :P

Isn't there any special tool made for this purpose? Or do professional locksmiths just grab whatever metalpiece they find and try to bend out the ring so that they can remove it? I don't care about the costs as you know, everything that can make it easier/faster to repin a lock is worth buying ;)

there are things called circlip-removers which will remove them 'professionaly', but the wrench will remove it almost as easily... then again it's up to you.

"Anything"? Like what .. ? :)

As I told you, isn't there any tool locksmiths use for this purpose, or do they grab whatever they find lying on the desk that does the job?

What do you folks use for this purpose? What works best? I don't care if I have to buy a lot of stuff, as I told you. I like buying stuff.

:D :) :D :) :D

Just use the end of your wrench, popping it out by placing pressure on one of the ends.
It'll come off.

I don't do very well with the tension wrench, dunno if I'm a very weak person or something :P Too much polar bears to fight with in Sweden, can never make my way to the gym.

However, can you give me a link to a store that sells circlip removers? I can't find any either in Lockpicks.com or Lockpickshop.com

That would be a waste of money.
Try this, if you need precise instructions.

A step by step guide to removing the circlips, assuming you're right handed.

Needed: wrench.

-Get a good grip on your lock with your left hand.
-Take your wrench in your right hand, and place the short end against one of the ends of the clip.
-Put your thumb on the wrench and push like it is your telly remote and you are watching teletubbies while looking for lethal weapon 3. (in other words, hard)
-Feel the satisfying pop of the lock..... letting go of the clip.

just my two cents.

I did it with a very small, regular screwdriver.
It took a few minutes and it's pretty bent now, but I got it off :)

As soon as I get some money I'll order a few things from Lockpicks.com, and after that I'm gonna repin the lock and see if I (hopefully) will be able to get the clip back. 8)

Thanks for all your help, mates!

B.t.w.

Maybe a little OT, but however.. What do you people use to replace the clip with, if it breaks to much or you loose it or something? The lock is only going to be used for picking, so the material doesn't need to be so strong. The most important part is that the plug doesn't fall out by itself or by "light force" (like dropping it on the floor), or that the plug moves so much that any pin falls out. We don't want that to happen ;) A thing that is good is if it is easy to remove and put back again.

I just tried a rubber band for fun, and it worked well but as I expected the plug moved a bit because rubber bands is so soft. Maybe a metal string will work better? Probably. (Strings are funny).

With that in mind it seems pretty unnecessery to put back the original clip if you only are going to use the lock as a "picklock", since it's less work, easier and goes faster with a metal string or a rubber band (rubber band in the worst case, if you don't like strings by any reason (they can possible hurt you, rubber bands can not)).

And another thing, thanks to illusion and everybody else for making me understand how the plug stays in the housing (which also made me understand how to repin locks), that's the only part (I think) that I haven't understood in how locks work until now.

8) 8) 8) 8)
