Great site!
I've recently developed an interest in lock picking and I am looking to get my first set of tools next week.
I have a few questions
I tried my first lock today; a yale padlock and I got very excited when I picked it 3 times in 10 mins with just 2 thin bits of metal which I snapped off something I found in the shed. I used 1 for the tension and picked with the other. I was just poking and prodding so it's no great achievement, I know - but it still felt good.
Anyhow, after getting all excited (sad, I know lol) - I kept trying... after that 3rd time I have not been able to get it open since. I know I should wait for the tools but I just had to have a go.
My questions are:
I dont really understand the binding pin is, what is it and what does it do? how do you know if you have found it? and do you need to find the binding pin before setting the rest?
I have included a photo of the lock just so you guys know what I'm working with.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Also posted same message in another forum hope thats not against the rules.
