It also depends on the lock.
I have the Southord electric vibrating pick (the version they sold about 10 years ago), and I don't have many successes with it.
Obviously, I want to hit all the pins with it at once, so that the top pins 'fly away' and create a wide shear line.
But in most locks, I don't find a position where the pickgun needle can hit the pins properly, there are too many wards in the keyways
Also, applying proper torque is very difficult. In theory, you don't want tension while the needle hits the pins, so that they can 'fly away' properly. The torque is only required while the shear line is present...
So a really light torque is appropriate, yet difficult to achieve...
