Household picks?

Heres the situation i'm in, currently uber noobie at LPing, never picked before and im wondering if there were any house hold items or items i could easily pick up at my local hardware store or such that could be used as a pick, i do not have access to grinders and other tools and such so the pick and tension wrench pretty much has to be made areadly when bot or close, or something i can work with using minor tools, scissors etc..

If you have any ideas, comments or suggestions for me in this situation please feel free to post.

Actually, if you look at the top of this forum, you can see the sticky "Home made hall of fame" (something like that), and it has a collection of homemade/handmade picks, here's the link http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=6420.

Windshield wiper inserts, sreet sweeper bristles, hacksaw blades, bandsaw blades, sheet metal, feeler gages the limitations are endless.

with no tools to work with I'd suggest looking through the "Sticky"'s in these forums. Look for a guide by sams choice (a member here) on making picks out of paperclips. I'm not going to post the link for you, I'll leave it to you to find it so you can work first on the skill of using the search button and reading posts already here.
It IS possible to pick simple locks with paperclips, but I wouldn't try anything harder than a 4 pin master lock or a cheap Kwikset using these, especially if you have yet to discover the "skill" of picking. And for the record: Learn to pick locks pin by pin before you try other methods. Learning to pick pin by pin will help you when you begin to use other techniques later.

The second real pick I ever made was out of a bobby pin. I will put a picture up of 2 feeler picks out just out of bobby pins and the tools I used to make. I bend out the pin to one long piece of metal, flat as I can I take the 1/2 that is not wrinkled and hold it by the narrow part of the metal near the end with the needle nose pliers and make a bend upwards. Then I used the emery board to sand it smooth. Later I added handles to my picks with epoxy.

Sorry, didn't see you mention you don't have tools, but, I do have an idea for you. Go outside, and walk around your town/city and around the sidewalks there should be metal bristles about 5-8" long, they are broken off of street sweepers. You can make picks out of these using only a file (I would consider that a "minor tool"). As for the tension wrench, you can use another bristle, and just bend it 90* at one end, and ciola, you have a pick, and a tension tool.

hey anyone know how to set up bike spokes into picks and such? i clipped like 30 or so and im just wondering if anybody knows any really good techniques to it other than the obvious (heat, smash, shape, cool {in laymans terms that is of course}) if not then i will probably resort to that. thanks all.
