I had slapped around some bump keys with stainless butter knives and such in the past, but when someone sent me a bumpking hammer, I was shocked at how easy it was, then after my fingers got scared of the hammer, I filed off the sharp corners, but this thing is still a foot long, so for carry, I am thinking, does it need that handle, how about if I push a thick mountain bike spoke through a superball, or just find a superball on a cord, I can use that for a keychain ornament, and also slap the bump key without seriously endangering my fingers. I havent made this yet, but its coming, i bought two hi bounce 'marbleballs' (reference to the tiedied colors) at targetstore, and I will soon have a ball on a short loop of cord, or with a bike spoke for a handle. I am sure that the round surface will strike just as well as the flat one. the balls I bought are about two inch diameter, could have gone a bit smaller if they had them.
