My first lessons from FB arrived yesterday. I'm on lesson 8. I just made a key that worked!

I am a cheater...I took the picks out of lesson 11 (we're not suposed to jump ahead) and have had much better luck on my deadbolt locks (both three & five pined). They are much better than paper clips!

To get the most out of the course let it run through properly and teach you rather than rushing and jumping ahead, its been formulated in the way it has for a reason.

Well done on your 1st locks etc etc but now put them back and learn what your reading in the order intended

You read instruction manuals?

FB is short for Foley Belsaw. It's a locksmithing course that you can take at home. Google it.

Um, Im on lesson 25 and just received my key machine. The earlier lessons you should not have to look back to find the answers for the exam. The course is going to get harder and your gunna end up going back to read over the stuff you missed anyway. Might as well take the course the way its meant to be taken. On the later lessons on picking the pin tumbler lock, they install a codder pin to keep the plug in the shell. It makes the whole lock bind. Do that lesson with the pin off. Anyway good luck and so far I feel the course was worth it. Oh and I open every brown envelope for every lesson as soon as I get it because twice they screwed up. Once I got no blanks and once no master key. Anyway called them and they resent the whole envelope lock and all so I scored some practice locks, ok well gotta go learn to cut keys by code and do my last 5 lessons. Keep it up all!

I had the same problem and also removed to cotter pin to pick the lock. After the lock has been picked put your thumb on the plug before removing the pick or you may pull the plug out and loose some of the pins and springs.
