When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Yeah, or like papr clips and stuff. looks helluva professional to them folks in da hood. total cia gangsta and stuff. but all da noobz around here don't use that stuff actually. them dumb, spending money to buy da real picks. or sumthin.

Oh my, I wish I could have resisted that.

Yeah. Start at arond 15 mm from the top of the screwdriver and make a 90 degree bend. Starting from around 3 mm from the tip of the safety pin, bend it to around 45 degrees.

You can make a lockpick from some pubic hair twisted together and superglued but whether it would work or not is another matter and a lot of our members wouldnt be able to ge the materials,

You can use things like paper clips, screw drivers, safety pins, nappy pins, pen tops, hait pins, old keys etc etc but your starting off on the wrong foot really, youll spend a long time getting no results and in the end give up on the whole idea due to frustration or go and get a commercial set or make your own from decent materials like you should have done in the first place,

There is a guide on making picks from paper clips but most of us dont think its worth while to do and especially if your new to the sport, its somthing you perhaps do when your actually good at picking with real tools and want some fun.

Hi Welcome to the forum,

Couple things to clear up here. Those 2 objects together do not make a 'lockpick' If you were crafty enough to unbend a safety pin and shape it into a snake rake or a hook pick, then you would have a lock pick. The small flathead (by the way it is called slotted) screwdriver is used to turn the lock and to apply torque to the cylinder so you can bind the pins. This is called a tension wrench.

Trouble with this set up is that the safety pin, even thuogh it's stiffer than a paperclip, is still not as still as a real pick made my a lockpick company, and when you do bend that screwdriver tip, it's in the shape of a V you would have to file a lot to get it flat enough to go into a keyway and stay there while picking.

Third, please use some form of spell check when posting a written message to the group. Ebonics and yo yo yo slang are ok in AOL chat rooms, but your words and the way you use them is very important when discussing technical matters on this forum. I'd like to smack your English teacher for allowing things like 'sumthin' That word is spelled 'something' and 'outa' should be 'out of' and is not the same as 'outta'
And yes it matters. maybe not on AIM with your friends or on your myspace profile, but when you write a letter to someone or post a message on a public forum, it's important how you present yourself if you ever hope to be respected and taken seriously.

Also, don't bother with safety pins and screwdrivers. If I was kidnapped and needed to get out of a locked room, maybe I'd try a safety pin and screwdriver, but how often does that sort of thing happen?

There are much better things to use when starting out, I have some examples right HERE

TY 4 ur question

I wonder what takes longer - you typing it like that or me trying to decypher it.

"AND AS IT APPENS JU AVE TO THIK LIKE A LEET HAX0R TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY DUDE"

Is that what it was supposed to read? :) Took me 3 or 4 minutes for sure.

Pinsetter got it...

I got bored and thought I'd drag some old 1337 speach into this thread. It only took about 20 secs to type. :)

Arrrgh... THIK=TALK... Didn't consider this, I was thinking either THINK or TYPE. But seriously, this has to be decoded by bayesian means, kinda contextual end by exclusion. If you don't get a starting point it's near impossible.

"Pretty good job, illusion!"

Now, tell us, how long did it take you to enter that?

Binary and hex... nice.

I wrote that in about 20 secs, but I did go back when I remembered that 'T' could be substituted by '+' so half a minute, round abouts, to fully write it... :)
