There are a lot of posts on it. I haven't taken it, but I have looked it over, and I would say you would learn quite a bit. Its sounds pretty good to give you a start.

I am taking the course now. Of the home study courses available Foley-Belsaw was the one most recommended on all of the sites I visited.

Lots of people praise this course yet I have read that it is quite dated. As with most things you only get out what you put in.All courses are an advancement to some degree.Just search around before you decide dont just jump in.

its a good start, however you willneed many more study and handson hours to be a lockie.

It is dated and most locks you learn of you don't actually get as a learnign aid (mostly expensive ones). Also the Emhart Lock which you will learn is also dated replaced by mededco.. infact a lockie in my area said he has one lock still in use.. this guy does the whole city practically.

Picks.. jsut by a set the give oyu three and a spring steel wrench.

and there very stingy about keys, meaning they will give you five, which is okay.. but i would say ten for a first lesson in impressioning.

DOn;t have a complaint about the machine is nice for learning.

Hmm, there super discount catolouge's pirces are beating if not matche dby websites.

And if you inquire something ( i quired an IC core for that lesson) they basically told me nope sorry! go by one.

Info is indeed good, also they do have a good support line. But for the price you pay you get duped with the learning aids.

Also Pickproof or impossible to pick come up alot

But it is a good course over all 6/10. mostly from being outdated

When I need key blanks in a hurry there's always an Ace Hardware close.

You can request a Foley-Belsaw Locksmith catalog without taking their course, it has a set of practice locks for $89.00. It contains 12 practice locks and keys, plus blank keys. http://www.foley-belsaw.com/Catalogs.html
It may take 2 or 3 weeks to receive the catalog.
You can call them at 800-821-3452.

I have found the course to be dated, but very helpful in practicing the craft. I like the keycutter you get. You don't get to keep anything practicewise that is worthwhile IMO. If you do decide to go this route, make sure you call them and request the discount to $599. I got it with no hassle at all. I did pay with credit card though. I got everything all at once that way, was nice......

I took the course and was very happy with it. I have ordered a Lockpicking course and a tublar picking course to practice on . I have ordered a lot of stuff from them and Lockpickshop. Very happy with both .
Some problems with a couple of items from Foley but they more than made it right for me.
