technic,
Maybe Foley-Belsaw can send their course to you? I know it may not cover some of the locks you deal with in Australia but I think it is a pretty decent course. It might even be worth checking out a local tech school or community college because there are a few around here that teach courses they don't advertise. Anyway good luck with your search!!!
On another note, I was able to finish lessons 21-25 yesterday. Doing the masterkey system was pretty easy since they had already worked out the combinations for you, but it does give you "hands on" on how the pins all work with master pins installed. I still say the hardest part of masterkeying is getting the system set up on paper first!!!
Impressioning without taking the lock apart is a challenge for sure. Just find the marks and file SLOW. It took me 1 broken key, one filed too deep, and one with a crack from me turning too hard to get it right. The fourth key worked out great. I just gotta learn not to file so much at a time and how much tension is needed to mark the key.
One lesson covered the Schlage Wafer Lock in pretty good detail. Now I really am going to try to find one to use as a practice lock! Very simple design and without going into a lot of detail very easy to master/grandmasterkey. I know now why Prodigy said they can be opened with a rake & standard tension wrench. I thought they were going to be more complex than they were, but after seeing what is going on inside it's pretty simple.
Another course covered the BEST IC locks. Definetly some does & dont's with those locks. Also interesting how the cores come out. Enough said.
Last paragraph I promise! The Emhart lock is one I have never seen before. It is a high security lock so I won't say much about it.
It looks like a challenge to pick but I bet it can be done. The book says picking is not an option on this lock but I bet someone out there has done it. Very interesting setup. Sorry to be so long-winded (AGAIN!!!) but this set of lessons was really fun. I will let you know when 26-30 arrive. I think I get my key machine soon too.
Happy picking...
