Quick question.

Postby H3A7 » 19 Feb 2007 2:45

I was wondering if you need a license to purchase lockpicks in:
1. Cambridge, UK
2. Toronto, Canada
And does anyone knows any store that sells cheap(well not super expensive) but good quality picks in either of those places? Any specific brand?

Thanks.

P.S. sorry if this is the wrong place to put this question, i just read the title "Got Questions?"

you should...

You should be able to purchase online. Some places will sell to anyone.

I think www.lockpicks.com is one.

As to the legalities to owning there, i don't know.

Usually, as long as you keep them at home, you should be O.K.

Hope this helped....

P.S. Try looking for templates on this site and have a go at making a set. They are Pretty easy to do with a dremel or files......

Check out the site's sponsor: www.lockpickshop.com

You get 10% off on that site if you use the coupon code "LP101" when checking out.

You do not require any specific credentials to purchase from them, and to the best of my knowledge, there is no licensing required to own picks in Toronto. As for the UK, I don't think so, but check local laws.

Cheers,

You don't need a license to carry picks in the UK. However if the police feel your collar it may require some quick explanations if your not a trading lockie

Isn't there one providence in Canada that actually requires a pick license to possess lockout tools? Or was that for carrying it with you?

Simple answer to that is DONT carry picks just keep them at home and when u need them. u need no license in the UK, there is a myth that u need 2 have them registered but u dont.

in ontario owning picks is a grey area, they count as burglary tools if they are used as such, and you can be charged for possession. they are not illegal to own, but you won't find anywhere that will sell them over the counter. best to try online.

There is no issue with having picks in Ontario, as to the burglary tools, that is not entirely accurate. Burglary tools encompass anything used to gain entry. Such as screwdrivers, drills, hammers, hacksaws, so if you have any of these things BE VERY VERY CAREFUL..................

Picks are only a liability to have on you if you are found to have intent to use them illegally, so picks in and of themselves are ok.

I would suggest lockpickshop.com, and I highly recommend the Peterson's "Ken's Picks" set. In fact all of the Peterson products are excellent.
