It is indeed. For some strange reason, SFIC systems are counted from the tip, whereas normal locksets are counted from the bow.
I've never been sure why this is, it's just something I got used to I suppose.
From the Schlage SFIC service manual:
Since the Everest patented core is designed to replace cores by Best, Arrow and others, Schlage's key cuts are read and written TIP to BOW. This is the opposite of other Schlage keys but standard for small format IC.
That pretty much sums it up. Now it looks like I have something else to try and figure out.
