Don't answer here as I am sure it is against the forum rules.
I've been trying to make a key for an 1997 F350
These are the steps I have taken so far
Called Ford with the VIN and they are not able to retrieve the igniton code.
Pulled a door lock and made a key from that works fine in the Door not in the ignition.
Tried impressioning. Cylinder is to loose and sloppy for impressioning and I suck at this anyway.
I now have pulled the cowling around the steering column and I can see what needs to be done. It appears that in order to get the cylinder out I am in need of a working key to to turn the cylinder a bit.
Question I have is short of just drilling this mother out is there a way that I can pull the cylinder that is a bit less intrusive?
I have very little experience with Automotive locks and could use some advice as to how to proceed from here.
Will apply to advanced section and am sure can get the answer there but i would really like to get this done for the weekend.
The truck is owned by a freind of mine with an auto body shop and I want to by the truck off him. Hard to tell if I am interested when I cant even start the
Also this was originally a US vehicle so has no Daytime running lights in Canada needs this to pass inspection. If I run a hot wire from the ignition fuse to the Headlamp relay fuse will this turn the lights on when ignition is turned on?
Just need to pass the ATransport canada inspection for this and can pull the wire after the fact.
