Well, it was actually not a bad thought.... his idea is that if his pins are covered in the soap, and the soap glows under black light, then when he loses a spring he can turn the lights out and fire up the black light. Like I said, creative, but probably either not practical or not good for the locks. db

some pet supply stores actually sell blacklights so owners can see where kitty has left his mark

If you use liquid soap and let it dry, reassemble the lock, the lube it up with grease/oil it will re-liquidize the soap and turn to a paste. Over time, that past would actually become sticky like a bugger.
Or you could go and get a brass magnet. Go to a hardware store to the area where they carry magnets. If you can find a nickel magnet, they will surly have a brass magnet there somewhere. If you find them, let me know.
