REVIEW: BayAreaLocks.com

Postby digital_blue » 5 Apr 2007 22:12

I just completed a transaction with www.BayAreaLocks.com. I don't tend to write a lot of reviews for companies I deal with, but in this case the service was so remarkable, I felt it only fitting to tell you guys about it.

Selection and pricing seemed pretty good to me. I purchased a couple Arrow deadbolts with Bilock cylinders. The site is very nicely designed, clean, and functional.

But where they really shine appears to be in the service end of things. Immediately after placing my order, I received the typical automated order confirmation. That was just before 11PM last night. By around noon today I received a personal message from the site owner informing me that my order was being processed. He did notice a slight irregularity in my order, though. I had ordered two deadbolts, but each had a different backset. In reality, this was not what I wanted, but it was my own fault. It was an oversight as I was placing the order.

I quickly responded (thank you Blackberry) that it was my mistake, but I wanted both to have the same backset. In less than an hour he responded that the correction had been made. Were it not for his attention to detail and willingness to follow up with me, I would have received a lock that would not have fit - and it would have been entirely my fault. Big kudos there!

Before the end of the day today, I received another personal email from the site owner informing me that my product had been shipped - with confirmation number - and a promise to follow up to inform me when the package cleared customs.

All I can say is... wow! Grade A service! He recognized an issue, addressed it, and got the whole thing shipped out in well under 24 hours. Can't beat that.

Based on this experience, I'd recommend this site to anyone.

Cheers!

Glad it worked out for you DB. Dennis was great with my abloy order too. Just a wonderful person to deal with all around.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

I think there is a thead with links, my suggestion that you mods can put in your sticky notes til the day that suggestions are welcomed, is that people can put some feedback on that link site, not a whole thread, but just a word, or rate them one to four stars and let the members who have used the various sites rate them on their own experince.

Introducing myself, Dennis McEntire, Locksmith Owner

Postby dmcentire » 26 Apr 2007 17:26

.

I wanted to introduce myself as the owner of Bay Area Locks. I was happy to help Digital Blue and zeke79 with their high security needs.

I am an authorized BiLock, Abloy Protec, and Medeco dealer and have been factory trained and certified on the servicing of these products.

I am available to answer any questions you may have on high security options and products, and feel free to bounce any other locksmith questions my way and I will do my best to help.

This forum is a great resource for everyone interested in locks, and has always been an excellent source of information and help over the time I have been in the business.

Thanks again to everyone who has visited my website, and I appreciate your feedback and questions!

Great to have you Dennis. Enjoy the upcoming flood of questions on HS locks now that you've announced yourself. Of course, please keep picking and bypass information for these locks to the advanced area. General information is always welcome in the open forums.

I wonder how long before you get your first PM request for a bumpkey...
