Simple yes or no question

Hope this is not an advanced topic but I’m just asking for a yes or no. I haven’t tried it yet and did a lot of searching but couldn’t find a definite answer. Can a Mul-T-Lock be bumped with an actual Mul-T-Lock key that is for another lock? The key is not at the greatest depths at all positions. Does this have to apply for dimpled locks too? [my friend just moved in a house with mul-t-locked garden tool shed but with no keys included!] Thanks for your replies.

in theroy yes if all the cuts on the said key were lower then all the pin codes for the other said lock

I'm not sure about MTL because it's a pin and pin system but for a regular pin tumbler dimple lock the cuts can be all at the lowest position.

There isn't a simple yes/no answer, because, as UWSDWF said - if all the cuts on they key you are attempting to bump with happen to be lower than the cuts for the key that opens the lock to be bumped, then in theory, yes, the lock could be bumped with that key.

Also, bear in mind that MulTLock keys are tip-stopped, which complicates things a little & makes bumping potentially even more damaging to the lock. I won't go into any further detail as I am sure this is considered a high security lock, and thus is advanced forum material.

As Rai mentioned, there is some video footage of MulTLocks being bumped, if you search. If I recall correctly, the video of the young kid bumping a MulTLock was a misrepresentation, it was only a cheap knock-off dimple lock he bumps. There is some discussion of this video on Barry Wels' blog from memory.

Good luck with your friend's shed, I doubt you'll get more help without a picture of the shed door and lock in question.

If you click submit on a new posting and it goes to webpage unavailable people press back and sumit it again when in fact it submitted the first time, if an error is seen again back again it goes and sumit hit once again, its easy to knock up a few posts in one session, i think 9 in a row equals the most ive had to deal with,

The Multi T lock company dispute that saying that they had taken out pins to make it bumpable. Sure it can be done, but there well always be naysayers. Until someone takes apart a Multi T lock on video puts it together then bumps it, there will be people doubting it as some sort of magic trick.

MTL know their locks can be bumped and had to alter the promo stuff for the latest interactive (which by the way remains unbumped at time of writing), but who cares, i dont need everyone to know what i can or cant do as long as i can do whatever on the door to earn my money i couldnt care less whats said,

You are on the right track there buddy All the locks that can be snapped shut without using the key are almost always able to get shimmed open. Usually locks that employ ball bearings to keep the shackle closed are key-operated only, so they can't be shimmed because there is no spring. So I think you aren't that bad, you just wasn't sure about all the locks you have

like does all combination locks have a springed ball to keep them close, cause i dont think so. I have opened a combo lock, like to see the inside. and no, there is no spring or things like taht, so that one could'nt be opened right?
