Allen wrench's are good. I have never used one but they look nice. If you have an extra hacksaw blade laying around or can make a trip to the dollar store, get a hacksaw blade to make your pick out of if you can use a grinder.

Also if you could get some winshield wiper blade inserts...they make good tension wrenches. go to youtube and search for how to make lock picks. I just did, got 5 good looking solid results. They probably tell you how to make tension wrenches and picks. If you aren't against it, you could go to a website and buy them.

www.lockpicktools.com
www.lockpickshop.com
www.lockpicks.com
www.southord.com

to name a couple. In your case all you want to buy is a standard tension wrench and a plain handle short hook pick. probably would cost less than the shipping would. around 5 dollars for the tools.

when you find your choice of material....heat it up before you bend it to shape...then immediately immerse it in cold water...this will harden it and make it last longer.

gotta say i wouldn't recommend paper clip tools. sure home brew tools can be great but not if its a half arsed effort. you wont get far unless u buy some or make some decent home brew tools.

Click my www button

Leave the paper clips alone you will only hinder yourself but if you must use such rubbish to poke locks at least do as globallockiy said and prepare the materials,

The price of tooling or the ease of making a decent one should have stopped all this paper clip poking,

Its also a good idea if when making a thread it actually has a point, yours is just a statement and doesnt even ask a question, if you want to make a statement at least make the effort to find the appropreate thread that is already in existance, in your case every other thread seems to be on this subject or bum keys,

In order to find existing threads you need to search,

If you wear specticles you will probalby have an old pair you can break up but theres not much better alternitive to the good old wiper insert as explained in every post on this site (almost) or in the link ive given you (my www button),

Have fun but i do warn you that messing around with paper clips and pen tops is just that, come back when you seriously want to pick and read up on which tools to buy, if you look around there is a thread on making picks from paper clips but things like that are gimmicks for established pckers, a fun while you drink sort of set of tools if you see what i mean,

another basic question: how much pressure do I put on the pins?
and how much to the tension?

Please have a read of the site,

please read my www guide,

There is a thread on here that someone mentioned the weight of 3 butterflies on the wrench is enough but it really does vary depending on the lock and your ability and what your trying to do,

You put enough lift on the pins so as to lift them,

If you read my guide and then the site you will find out that the wrench pressure is directly connected to how many pins you are binding at one time,

The correct pressure is when you are only binding one pin at a time and the correct pressure to lift the pin is the amount to lift that binding pin,
