What is this small hole on my for padlock

Ah. That hole is for drainage... if, for example, the lock is left open and sitting outside in the rain.

MacGyver is right, that hole is so water can drain out of your lock. I remember when i first started picking, and had yet to read up on it, i started jamming everything i could into that hole in the hope that the padlock would open :lol:

Actually, does anybody know if there hav been an locks, some very cheapo ones, where you have been able to access the shackle via that hole and bypass the lock?

None that I'm aware of... but nothing would surprise me any more with some of the cheap padlocks. :wink:

Even on cheap locks, however, the drain hole is usually located opposite to the side of the shackle with the latch. (The side of the shackle which doesn't come out of the lock body is the one which would be hardest to drain.)
