Tension wrench?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Tension wrench?

I have made about 10 already but they are all really really small.. I was at walmart today and say all the inserts are the same size.. Are the not making them big anymore? Even on my neibors big chevy.

It sounds as if your not goint to be able to find them at your Wal-Mart, try visiting a few auto parts stores; such as Autozone, O'Reilly's, NAPA, and Quest.

Hopefully you will find better luck at those other autopart stores in your area. Good Luck!

you can also use coat hangers, but that is if you have a grinder the grind off the edges. i know they might be a little soft, but they last for a long time for me.

If you heat them to glowing red, and then dip them in cool water they tend to be stronger.

Which is also known as tempering. I was walking in a parking lot today when I saw an SUVs back wiper.. its small but the inserts were huge.. Like the size of plumbing snake.. I thought I saw the owner and it would be weird if he saw me looking at his windshield wiper so I kept walking.. It was an older car.. So do they only make large ones on older ones? Can someone post a pic for me of a store bought brand?

all wiper blades i have seen are interchangeable. it just depends on the brand you get i guess. the small inserts seem to be more and more common, as i picked a few sets of blades out of an autozone trash can (they were _hanging_ out) and all of them had the small inserts.

the small ones here are 0.2 cm. (3/32 in.) wide, and they do fine as a tensioner for most locks i have encountered. the other inserts are 0.3 cm. (1/8 in.) wide and they aren't very common.

do you know the width of these "small" inserts you keep running into? i'm guessing they are 0.2 cm but i could be wrong. if they are 0.2 cm they should work fine as tension wrenches.

They just slip in the key way.. And for bigger keyways they don't even fit.
I will try to get around to measuring them. Until than thanks!

Okay folks,

Auto part stores are still the easiest choice. Also try used car lots where they have to finish out or detail a car before it goes on the sale line.

You want big wiper inserts? Try going to any place that services large trucks. Ex. : truck stops, moving companies, UPS, FedEx, City, County, & State maintenance garages, and any number of other trucking companies, etc.

In Texas where we have to have out cars inspected try any inspection station. Then check out the truck dealers.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
