Foilimpressioning
As promised I will try to explain how you can open a lock with a keyblank using tape.
Ok,what will you need:
1.A lock with a working key
2.A blank that fits in this lock
3.a file, the one you use for impressioning a lock will do fine
4.Scotch tape, thin is good, thinner is better and strong is also important!
5.a pair of scissors
6. A marker
7.A vice
First you take the working key and place it on top of the blank.Where the key shows its depths you mark the blank.
After that you place the blank in a vice and file depths in the blank until you have the deepest cut,if you do not know the deepest cut, look at the working key and file deeper than the deepest cut on the key.
Then you take a pair of scissors and cut off a small piece of scotch tape,it should be long enough to cover the length from the shoulder till the tip of the key and also both sides of the blank to cover the openings made by the file.
Make sure you rub the tape tightly on the blank, you do not have much space in the lock and also you do NOT want the tape left in the lock when you want to pull the blank out.
I use ul 50 blanks, they fit and leave enough room for tape on the blank,I know with some original blanks for a great amount of locks this trick will not work this way.At least that has been my experience.
Once you have done all the above,it is time to put the blank in the lock, make sure the tape will be where it should be,on the blank,if it crawls up,do not push further and start over, the most important moment is the placement of the tape, filing the depths is not difficult, the tape is the most timeconsuming part.
When you are sure the blank fits in the lock it is time to wiggle.Take the key between your thumb and finger and start to wiggle from left to right, not up and down, left and right.
This might take a few minutes but the lock will open after a few minutes with a maximum of 7 minutes,at least that is my experience for what it,s worth
Goodluck and let me know if you have questions, always willing to help!
