Ok, so I was needing to make some tension wrenches to start my lockpicking hobby. Well here's what happened.

yeah...sitting around watching your 7mth old doesn't lend itself to get out or have much time but sit in the same room and play with'em.

Get outta here. My little nephew is 7 months old. I'm going to my brother's this week and I'm gonna get stuck watching the little guy. Last time I tried to use some of the time to pick, but he won't let my attention be diverted from him unless SpongeBob is on. Thankfully he seems delighted by the sound of a padlock shackle popping open, and as long as I go sit by him with one of my practice locks and pop it open over and over he giggles and shakes his little plastic keys.

Sorry, back to the topic. I see you have made many super small handles. I can only assume this is shortage of materials or to work next to door frames? Anyway, instead of making them smaller you can add a small bend to accomodate tight spaces, or even a full loop like
THIS
Sorry for the crummy picture, but I'm feeling lazy and this is the only loop I have on me. Hope it gives you a good idea what I'm talking about.

I was really just making a huge assortment to test out. If you notice there are three different widths, the middle width seems to be the best though, but you never know what kind of lock you'll encounter. Remember the 5 P's, Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.

I'm sure I'll end up with using/carrying only 2-4 of them.

I like the loop idea, and was planning on making a couple, but just ran out of metal. I'll be making an AutoZone/O'Reilly's run during the week to get more fodder.

Dopp.

I've actually had quite good results making miniature feeler picks out of windshield wiper inserts using a bench grinder. Of course, it takes a delicate touch and a frequent quenching of the steel to avoid ruining the temper. These little suckers make it SO easy to rake or single pin pick the cruddy cash register/drawer locks or the smaller padlocks.

Of course, I work on cars, so I get about a dozen inserts every day for free. :D

Picking the lock on your cash register is a good way to break the cruddy lock on your cash register.

I discovered that. The ones I've been practicing on were salvaged from the dumpster of a pawnshop that was remodeling, so no worries if I tear them up.
