hmm i dunno about the UK but in the US it really would depend on the employer.

If you got a criminal record, doesn't matter for what, you can't be employed for any jobs given by the goverment. This is with everything related to the goverment, for example the army or police. Other employers have their own rules so there's always some jobs available where they are less strict then with the jobs offered by the goverment.

You dont have to even declare that any more when you apply for any jobs because its over 6 years ago it will have dropped off the general CRB check that they do. You probably went to the magistrates court - if anything - which also means it is a Civil not a true Criminal matter.

A more in depth look in to your past such as if you wanted to join the Police probably would throw it up but I think even then it would be surprising if they didn't let you in.

Im not a solicitor however, I just know this because I'm 27 and live in the UK, got busted when I was 18 as well, except there were some other factors that made it a little more serious. I still dont have to declare anything on any forms when applying for employment.

That's partly true. If you apply for a job which involves the government in any way you need to do a Safety & Reliability test. Atleast here in Europe. In this test they'll check if you had a criminal record, fines or where know to use drugs. Now I know from experience that the army doesn't allow people who had any sort of contact with drugs or have a criminal record. I think that the police has a similar policy but I doubt they'll be that strict for a something as small as possession of some drugs.

basicaly its not a problem, there is no licensing for locksmiths in the uk. pretty much any joker with a drill can call him self a locksmith.

Um... Regalis... I believe you are sadly mistaken. At least in the United States.

While some crimes will disqualify you from some jobs and a felony arrest (even without conviction) can preclude you from obtaining some levels of clearance, a simple criminal record does NOT automatically disqualify you from work in law enforcement, in government or in the military.

An arrest for petty position of cannabis is so commonplace and trivial among many age groups and other demographics.

I speak from personal experience when I tell you that you can have a past (non-felony) criminal history and not only enter the military but also work in law enforcement and work for the government - including holding very, very, very high security clearance.

It's not all as black and white as some people like to think. How many people do you know who grew up straight as an arrow, never getting in any trouble at all and then when they become adults decide that a career as a CIA operative or other clandestine, covert operations activity where they are likely to get "wet" is the thing for them?

LOL forget worrying about the drugs worry about how your going to earn a living as a locksmith in the uk.

I had 3 calls this week from people desperate for work, two were trading the other had done a course and wanted a job.It seems everyone i talk to has done a course or is thinking of doing one. Unless your established or have another trade under your belt forget it or sell drugs instead.
