I saved my friend's life with lockpicking!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so you can move it if it isn't.

Alright, so I go to college in Florida, and we were out the other weekend and things got a little crazy. One of my friends thought it would be fun to drink a ridiculous amount as we watched with mild drunken apprehension. One thing led to another and we found ourselves standing outside of a room, locked door in our way, and my friend asleep on the other side (she was very, very drunk). We were trying to figure out what to do, get our friend in deep shasta, and possibly ourselves as well (we are not quite of age yet), so I decided to have a go at the lock with my pick set (or at least some of it, I keep two picks and a torsion wrench in my wallet). I got a chair, and started going to work, but not before noticing that it was a BEST brand lock. It is at this point that I should note that I am a slightly amateur-ish lock picker. I have only been doing it recreationally for fun on and off for about a year now. However, I have heard enough about locks to know that BEST brand deadbolts maybe are not the easiest of prey for a beginner(I could be wrong, I don't really know). Nevertheless I decided to give it a go and somehow I was able to get it open. We went inside, scooped up our friend, and got her to the hospital where she had her stomach pumped. I honestly think that if I wouldn't have been able to pick the lock, we would have had to break down the door, or figure something else drastic out to help my friend with alcohol poisoning. She is alright now, and it's all thanks to those simple little pieces of metal. It's kind of inspired me to become a little better at lock picking; I think it was kind of a fluke I was able to get this particular lock open, and if a bad situation arises again I would like to be able to approach it more confidently. So I joined this forum! :) Just thought you might like to hear a story of how lock picking helped someone out for me! :D

We should get shoes to do up the LP101 logo in the Obama filter with that byline.

So I hope the "lesson learned" about picking locks was followed by several other lessons that night, yeah? Lockpicks don't have to save your friends' lives if they aren't risking them.

In progress, def. not done yet. Kinda weird to do this style on what is already a flat object.

Also? Big disclaimer here: Shepard Fairey is a scumbag and a hack. Just in case my doing this made anyone think my opinion of him was positive.

Now here's a real artist's take on inspirational Obamaness: http://kitsunenoir.com/blog/2008/05/23/ ... ma-poster/

I should probably also note that I'm a nutjob libertarian and thus wasn't stoked with either of the major party options this election cycle. disclaim disclaim disclaim.

This is all my fault.

But I can't leave a good person, who gets it, out of this cool community.

I would've just given the door a solid kick in the dead center of it with my combat boot.If it was a life or death situation then who gives a about the well being of the door?Or door frame as a few doors I've broken down took out the door frame with it.But that's pretty cool that you were able to save your friend.Btw,whenever somebody says they're gonna drink ridiculous amounts of alcohol the hospital's where you'll usually being heading in a few hours :P

If it's a college dorm it should be master keyed which probably made the picking easier since there are usually twice the number of break points.
