Alright, so I go to college in Florida, and we were out the other weekend and things got a little crazy. One of my friends thought it would be fun to drink a ridiculous amount as we watched with mild drunken apprehension. One thing led to another and we found ourselves standing outside of a room, locked door in our way, and my friend asleep on the other side (she was very, very drunk). We were trying to figure out what to do, get our friend in deep shasta, and possibly ourselves as well (we are not quite of age yet), so I decided to have a go at the lock with my pick set (or at least some of it, I keep two picks and a torsion wrench in my wallet). I got a chair, and started going to work, but not before noticing that it was a BEST brand lock. It is at this point that I should note that I am a slightly amateur-ish lock picker. I have only been doing it recreationally for fun on and off for about a year now. However, I have heard enough about locks to know that BEST brand deadbolts maybe are not the easiest of prey for a beginner(I could be wrong, I don't really know). Nevertheless I decided to give it a go and somehow I was able to get it open. We went inside, scooped up our friend, and got her to the hospital where she had her stomach pumped. I honestly think that if I wouldn't have been able to pick the lock, we would have had to break down the door, or figure something else drastic out to help my friend with alcohol poisoning. She is alright now, and it's all thanks to those simple little pieces of metal. It's kind of inspired me to become a little better at lock picking; I think it was kind of a fluke I was able to get this particular lock open, and if a bad situation arises again I would like to be able to approach it more confidently. So I joined this forum!
