What about the european brands KESO & KABA ??

Postby micelodeon » 22 Jan 2010 16:32

Hello

Im new in this forum, i live in Switzerland and 27years old. Im pretty new to lockpicking, I introduced myself in the intro section.

I checked all through your site but i coulnt find any infos on KESO locks. KESO & KABA are spread over switzerland and I realised those locks have pins on the right/left and upper side. I read a lot about the techniques of picking locks and about how each mechanism works, but never came across this KESO system.

Is it even possible to pick those locks?? Do I need any special picks for this? The one Im trying on is the one on our cellar-door, its a KESO 2000s Omega.

Funny is, before I knew that much about the different lock mechanism, i tried with a tension wrench and a normal hook pick....I didnt realise the pins on the sides but after i pressed the pins on the upper side, the lock opened. But I could turn the tension wrench only for 90 degrees. After this I couldnt insert the key anymore. Something blocked it, then i picked it back to the position it was before and I could insert the key again. How could this be possible?? I only set the pins on the upper side, but i could open it. I also made my own snapgun, one snap, and it was open, but I couldnt repeat that anymore.

Maybe my newbie questions sound stupid to you but Im really curious about this. Also if somebody has a link of a KESO System pick tutorial, please msg me.

I hope to become a good member of the community.

(sorry for my english)

;-)

Welcome to the forum.

We are familiar with KESO and KABA. In America, KESO is sold under Sargent KESO, and Kaba Gemini, etc, was marketed by Lori.

I have a friend in your country who runs this site: http://www.lockpicking.ch/doku.php Perhaps you will find some local friends there to meet and pick locks.

and yes KESO and KABA are pickable.

tanks for your quick answer!! true, i saw some reviews on KABA locks, but no KESO (european standards) with pins on all sides. The picture of the KABA you uploaded seems to have much less pins. I cant figure out how to set the pins on the left & right side of the cylinder. Again, do I need any special tools for that? I would be really happy if someone could give my a tutorial link to those locks (KESO 2000s Omega) etc.

I already know the site you posted...as far as I know, the president of this club is a priest, how cool is that? however, cant find any forum there, and I dont know if they like when I just send them a mail with questions. Thats why I joined THIS forum, guess here are many people who could help me. Greets

what you need to remember with this lock is not to push pins in too far.

Its more a case of dodging the pins in this lock which makes it more difficult

I have managed to pick a few knockoffs but never the real deal.... still working on it though

Hi micelodeon,

here in germany, lots of people have these types of locking mechanism in there doors.
especially keso. to open keso locks you do not need some kind of special tools. your tensioner and
hook is enough. but be careful, its possible that the pins and springs are coming out of their originally
position and in the worst case, the lock is damged.

other possibilities to open a keso are for example:
foil impressioning
key impressioning

and there is a john falle tool that works with a kind of the shiming technique.
i ve got a falle promo movie where john falle shows how the tool works.
pretty effective, but only for government.

hope these information could help you,

If by high security you mean, they offer registered key control, cylinder drill protection, and multiple points of locking (2 or more points on the plug that need to be picked or operated by the key in order for the plug to turn), then yes, they are high security.

The Gemini version though is fairly old / low down the product range (kudos for picking it though). Kaba quattro and experT would be a very different matter to pick I suspect. expert for example can have (if it's standard keying (ie no master keying) 22 pins in it all overlapping and very close to each other.
