Teddy Picker wrote::D Okay, now I change my guess to that it's fake. Some of those locks all he does is put the pick in and wiggle it madly, and the lock pops open. I'm guessing they're warded locks with the wards removed so all he has to do is press a lever. Definitely not unmodified locks.
In warded padlocks, pressing the lever is all you have to do. Removing the wards would admittedly make it doable with a straight pick (which is what it looks like he's using), but those locks aren't warded. The quality isn't very good but when he's fiddling with one of them you can make out the shield in front of the keyway which is used on certain padlocks to prevent the key from being turned the wrong way. With some cam designs, the plug can be turned either way, but only a clockwise turn will open... so they put the shield on to stop idiots from trying to force it open in the wrong direction. You never see that on warded padlocks. Also, you can see the "Master" logo on one of them and master warded padlocks don't look like that. These are definitely pin tumblers, probably some kind of "commercial" master lock.
My guess is that the locks are gimmicked. He's an escape artist, you can buy gimmicked locks from online magic stores. There was no inspection of the locks beforehand. Yeah. There aren't many locks you could jiggle open like that, not even master locks lol... so something is definitely up. If he was practicing on the locks beforehand to get the feel for them and pick them genuinely in the escape, it'd make sense for him to be using proper tools. Which he wasn't. No tension wrench, probability of 3 genuine locks being able to be jiggled open with a single tool... the locks have to be gimmicked. There's no other explanation. It almost looks like he's trying to turn them CCW as well; any master lock with that shield I've picked can be turned CCW but it won't pop the shackle. Gimmicked all the way.
And if that wasn't enough... he managed to open the last one with a belt buckle (which would probably be too big to even go into the keyway) after conveniently dropping his pick. That's just showmanship for ya. Speaking of belts... at 48 seconds you can see one of his crew holding the belt he was wearing in the escape. Don't start thinking too much about what you see on TV.

The only thing there that he legitimately picked open were the handcuffs. They're a simple design and they weren't double locked, so they could've easily been opened with any pick like what he was using... which explains why those took slightly longer.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a murder investigation to tend to.
