Ocean Alexander Yacht Keys

Can anyone tell me where to get key blanks for a Ocean Alexander Yacht? The key has no numbers on it.

They make more than one boat.

That's kinda like asking where to get a key for that Ford.

Details folks! We gotta have details 'cause we can't see what you're working on from here!

Year and model might help. Pic of existing key or cylinder would definitely help.

Boats are a little trickier than automobiles to figure out what mfg of locks they used since it is usually tied back to the driveline and mfg of the controllers than the actual boat mfg.

I just realized the size of the boat that you were asking about

I used to work for a Marine Power Division that worked on boats like this. I don't remember ever seeing a key on a boat of this size. Just a lot of switches and push buttons on control panels in the engine rooms and eagles nest.

They DO use keys for mechanical locks on doors and compartments on board, but I've never seen an ignition key for one. They source out from different mfg's for these locks also. It could be one of hundreds.

The boat has a HIN or hull number, right? Call Ocean Alexander, this sort of info will be on file.

Also, I ask that you please dont post same question in other areas, we all check every area daily.

Best of luck,

I am going through the same exercise. I have an OA Classico 456. The previous owner mailed me the spare key and the postal service lost it. My key looks exactly like yours. The only OA dealer in the US that knows anything about this is in Seattle. I spoke with [MOD EDIT: removed personal information] Unfortunately, the cost of a blank is $80 and shipping is $50. So far, I have chosen not to pay the price.

I have on numerous occasions contacted locksmiths and asked if they could create a key blank from scratch. Each one assures me that they can find a key blank if I just send them a picture of the key or let them take a picture of the key. So far, nobody has come through with a blank. When I repeat the question about creating a blank that matches contours of my key, they generally avoid the question.

I undertand that there are machines out there that will create a blank from scratch. How do I locate a locksmith that has one? I live in North Carolina. Ideally, the locksmith would be within driving distance, because I certainly do not wish to risk sending my one remaining key through the postal service.

What would help us more is not a side view of the keys but a head on view in good focus next to a reference object such as a Schlage or Kwikset home key or Master padlock key or ever a ruler.

ILCO and Silca both offer catalogs where you can look at the keyway shape / profile / section and then figure out if it is a common blank that is just being minted my OA and sold for $80 because they know they can charge that much. So if you can put your key in a vise with a Schlage key or Kwikset key below it for scale we can probably figure this out.

As a safety and security precaution, DO NOT show us your house key key cuts! only the profile view as if you were inserting your key into the camera lens.

Thanks!

If you go just by the key bow for identification, the only thing that looks like the OPs pic is the Soprano brand shown in the Silca 108 catalog, page 198, but the profile milling is all wrong. OA yachts factories are in Taiwan and China, I wonder if they source the locks from China. Anyone in Australia recognize the peace sign logo on the bow?
