Axminster Sieg X2 - this kind of caper http://www.siegind.com/imageRepository/ ... 1e4ee4.jpg

I've had mine a few years now, bout 5 I think? And let me tell you, she's loose as an old goose! Lots of table backlash, my vice is worn, the vertical axis has about 1mm play, the tables are stiff, and the potentiometer is somewhat temperamental so just getting the machine to start is a pain (I have a method where I hit it and it starts to work).

Still a good mill for the money and work I've done with it, you tend to grow with the machines faults as they develop so it's not a problem to me. If anyone else got on it to have a go, well that would be a different story! I don't think there would be much of any locks left in the vice if they tried to use it as intended :p

In the military, they refer to it as 'percussive maintenance'. Don't knock it... it works. Oh, wait. I mean knock it until it works. :-D

I love the cut on the first photos you uploaded. Do you happen to have any of them in a decent enough resolution so I can use them as wallpaper?

Hah, that's the one! I hit the emergency stop switch very lightly and it kicks in nice... like they say, "if it aint broke..."

5.2MP I'm afraid is all I can muster and the locks are long gone to new homes by now so can't take more :/

Percussive maintenance. Like the russian cosmonaut from amaggeddon (starring bruce willace) "just needs some gentle persuasion" picks up 36" wrench. THUMP. "WORK!" THUMP. Pump wirres to life.

Many years ago, the US military used radio phones in the field. They were in metal cases almost the size of a .30 caliber ammunition box. If the phone was inoperative, the actual instructions were to pick the box by both handles, lift it up about a foot, and firmly hit on the ground three times. Then retry the phone!

If big balls were what it takes to mill high security locks, Snowyboy's would sink the QE2.

I hold Snowyboy's skills and cutaway work in deep admiration. It's mechanical artwork. I'd say the quality of his cutaways are easily in the top three worldwide, both current and historically, in both private work and factory work. At least from any locks I've ever seen in my years of collecting.
