In Need of Ace 5202833 Padlock Cylinders

Postby Airmaxx23 » 10 Apr 2014 8:49

I've purchased a couple Ace 5202833 I.C. padlocks lately and would like to get some extra cylinders with sporated and serrated pins so that I can just swap them out for some variation. I did some searching on Google but didn't find much of anything. Any idea where I can find them? Thanks.

Those are not IC. The whole lock itself is a clone of an American 1100/5200 series, so the American APTC12/14 cylinder might fit.

Yeah, the American cylinders might fit but sometimes they change the geometry of the tail piece/actuator. If you can post a good pic of the back of the cylinder we can probably be a little more certain.

My bad, I thought that since the core came out it would be interchangeable. I'll get a few pics of the cylinder posted in a while.

I have a bunch of APTC12 cylinders that I am in the process of rekeying, so if they will fit your lock I'd be willing to sell/trade a couple.

It looks like I won't be able to use the American cylinders in the Ace lock.

No, you are in luck!
The American on the right is a US 5200GL which takes a Master 296W17 cylinder. All of the other 1100/5200s take the cylinder on the left.

Thanks, I just did some Googling and see what you mean. How much are you selling the cylinders for? Do they have security driver pins? One other question, why is this not consider an interchangeable core lock?

Interchangeable Core, IC, locks the core can be removed from the lock using a special key. With a regular key the lock functions normally but the control key won't unlock the lock. What it does is retract a lug on the core so that the core can be removed or replaced without taking the lock apart. They can be recognized by the figure 8 core.

What you have is a rekeyable lock. The lock can be disassembled and the core rekeyed but it is more complicated.

Send me a PM and we can work out a price. I do have some security pins for American padlock cylinders.
